Forest Reforms, in partnership with MoEFCC, aimed to unlock agroforestry as a driver of rural income by a comprehensive value chain approach. This approach covered all stages from inputs and planting to harvesting, certification, transport, processing, and market linkage, focusing on improving efficiency and sustainability. PRAMAAN, India’s first national forest certification scheme, raised standards of forest products and facilitated the nationwide roll-out of National Transit Pass System (NTPS), for better monitoring of timber transport. Additionally, harmonised Model Rules simplified felling on agricultural land, offering clear legal frameworks for farmers. Finally, National Timber Management System (NTMS) established improved transparency, accountability and sustainability in timber management.
